The collection is sculptural and dynamic at its core: Ombre is the Italian word for “shadows”, here standing for a poetic interplay of texture, light, and forms, inspired by compacted earth and brought to life through creativity, extensive research and innovative technology.
A language of texture and light
Ombre evokes depth, dynamism, and an ever-changing sculptural pattern made by light and shadows.
Prototyped from raw, compacted earth and then conceptualized through a thorough R&D process, the final result is a collection of five expressive patterns for five different Ombre structures: Punto, Croce, Forme, Trame, and Picché.
These patterns shift as light changes, bringing each surface to life with a quiet yet dramatic sense of motion.
What makes the collection unique is an exclusive and unique worn, time-erased effect: sections where patterns appear bold and defined, alternate with others where the shapes gently fade, as if weathered by memory.
This poetic layering adds further emotional richness to the structures.
Between innovation and craftsmanship
Each concrete structure is engraved using a unique 1.5 mm deep relief technique that creates a tactile and visual depth, elevating surface design into sculpture.
The Picché variant, with a 0.3 mm relief, is specially developed to be used on floors, with its soft and buffed texture underfoot that preserves the collection’s signature language.
All original structure elements are handcrafted using a distinctive earth-pressing method, so that every piece bears the unique fingerprint of human touch: authentic, imperfect, and deeply resonant. The result is a product that carries the depth of craftsmanship and the precision of innovation.
The five structures of Ombre
Punto
An essential design staple, the dot becomes the starting point of a minimalist harmony.
The initial motif is repeated in three distinct layers of material depth, producing soft, rounded forms that respond fluidly to ambient light.
Croce
Croce Structure is shaped by a delicate pattern reminiscent of traditional embroidery.
Its crisp profile interacts with light, creating fragmented sculptural refractions and ever-changing visual plays.
Forme
A “pluralistic” pattern combining simple dots with elongated linear strokes, reminiscent of the old telegraphic symbols, creates a quiet yet expressive composition using form and light.
With its soft pattern, this structure reacts to light with a captivating range of soft, unique shapes.
Trame
The Trame pattern is deeply rooted in traditional Indian iconography.
This decorative harmony weaves its geometric regularity with expressive light interaction, echoing architectural and textile traditions.
Picché structure
With its minimal, soft textural appeal, the Picché selection of Structures features a subtler 0.3 mm relief.
This structure is created using CoreTech, a full-body porcelain stoneware that embodies the raw power of ceramic in its purest form.
Picché channels the raw spontaneity of earth into a refined surface ideal for both walls and floors, that perfectly balances character with a subtle architectural aesthetic.
Design freedom
The Ombre collection retains an earthy aesthetic, enhanced with a layer of transparent TR glaze.
This glaze is applied before the tile is fired in the kiln. It retains the properties of porcelain tiles, including high stain resistance, surface abrasion resistance (class IV, 6000+ revolutions), and excellent scratch resistance (Mohs hardness value of 8).
Thanks to these features, Ombre tiles are easy to maintain and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
